BLAZE OF UPMINSTER MAJORETTES AND BATON TWIRLERS

For more information on joining or booking us for displays please see Contact Page

On the 5th June 1997 Blaze of Upminster was established by our troupe leader, Pat Spencer and our Treasurer Lorraine Vincent along with 3 trainers Julie, Cheryl and Sharon, who all decided that Upminster needed its own Majorette Troupe. We began with just 3 majorettes who put on a display in a bid to recruit new members. We started by training in our local park until we secured a regular booking at Engayne Primary School, where we trained for the last 22 years until recently. We have welcomed hundreds of girls and boys over the years.

We are proud members of the United Kingdom Federation of Majorettes (UKFM) where we compete in both regional and national competitions from the months of September until April. Blaze has been recognised as the ‘Best overall troupe in the London area’ several times as part of the UKFM , plus winning the title of Miss UKFM twice and previously holding the honour of being the only, to date, male winner of UKFM mascot. Once the competition session is over, we ask the majorettes to take part in a fun competition called Pats’s Challenge; this is a fun evening where they are put into small groups and make up a routine and perform in front of the rest of the troupe. We also hold our annual display open evening, where the majorettes are encouraged to bring along friends and family members. As well as an opportunity to recruit new members it is also a chance to show people the troupe’s award winning routines.
